Bridal boudoir in Wellington

The months before a wedding are full of planning for everyone else: guest lists, seating, timings, other people’s opinions. A bridal boudoir session is the one appointment that is entirely about you. It is a private, relaxed shoot in the lead-up to the day, photographed with the same care and discretion as every Wellington Boudoir session.

You do not need any experience in front of a camera. You are guided through every pose, shown the back of the camera often, and never rushed towards anything you are not ready for. Most people arrive a little nervous and leave feeling more like themselves than they have in months.

A boudoir wedding gift to treasure

A bridal boudoir session makes a beautiful wedding gift for your partner, to be opened on the morning of the wedding or the night before. A few favourite images as fine-art prints, or a selection of the gallery, make a gift that is deeply personal and completely private.

You might prefer to keep the photos entirely for yourself, as a record of how you felt in that chapter of life. Both are perfect reasons. The session is yours either way, and you decide who sees the images and when.

What to wear for bridal boudoir

White and ivory lingerie is the classic choice, and it photographs beautifully in soft window light. Your veil adds instant romance. A garter, a silk robe, heels or your partner’s shirt all bring a personal story into the frame.

Bring three or four looks, from most covered to least, and we will choose together on the day. The full guide to what to wear to a boudoir shoot has more practical tips on fit, colour and what to avoid.

Choose your setting

An upmarket hotel suite feels like a preview of the wedding night, with crisp bedding, big windows and a sense of occasion. A central-city studio gives complete control of the light. Your own home is the most personal and often the most relaxed. A private outdoor location brings natural light and texture.

Whichever you choose, the session is completely private. Your gallery is password-protected and yours alone, and nothing is ever posted or used in any marketing without your explicit written consent.

FAQ

Bridal boudoir questions, answered

What is bridal boudoir?

Bridal boudoir is a boudoir session in the lead-up to your wedding. Some brides give the photos, or a print, to their partner as a wedding gift. Others keep them simply for themselves.

When should I book a bridal boudoir session?

Give yourself plenty of time before the wedding, especially if you want to give an album or prints. Mention your wedding date when you enquire and we will plan backwards from it.

What should I wear for bridal boudoir?

White or ivory lingerie, your veil, a garter, a robe or your partner’s shirt all work beautifully. Bring three or four looks and we will choose together on the day.

How much does bridal boudoir cost?

Bridal boudoir uses the standard boudoir sessions: $350 at home or outdoors, or $650 in a hotel suite or studio with hireage included. Afterpay is available.

Will my partner or wedding guests see the photos before the day?

No. Your gallery is private and password-protected, and only you decide who sees the images and when. Nothing is ever posted or used in marketing without your explicit written consent.
